Beyond Light

Eramis, the Kell of Darkness, has occupied Europa with her Fallen army and Guardians must respond. Travel to Jupiter’s frozen moon, hunt down Eramis, and prepare to wield the Darkness.

The Work

From September 2019 to July 2020 I worked on Destiny to help build familiar Destiny experiences, gameplay objects, and prefabs in Bungie's newest tech that was released with the Beyond Light expansion. I was able to get a lot of experience providing valuable feedback to the engine team on their content creation tools. I also had a lot of opportunities to work closely with the test team to deliver high quality content.
 

Most of my time has was spent performing scripting work while considering good design philosophies as well as documenting my workflow and process to help Bungie improve and identify workflow issues and collaborate with the team to solve them.
 

Most of the work I did on the 2020 expansion Beyond Light was with scripting encounters for various types of content. I worked on ambient encounters, Exotic quests, Strikes, Dungeons, and participated in helping test raid content with the new stasis abilities.

The encounters themselves were already designed, and I followed a blueprint established by the designer to build in the functionality of the enemy spawns, objectives, and setting enemy behaviors. This also included setting up all the triggers for in game npc animations, voice lines, cutscenes, and environmental effects such as explosions, moving trains, etc. Working in this manner with a sort a blueprint meant I had a close relationship with the encounter designers to ask questions and get feedback to ensure the encounters met their vision as well as provide feedback.
